At a short distance from Cercal, lost in the undulating landscape of the Alentejo's south-west, the irreverent Herdade do Reguenguinho is a spot of colour in the chromatic monotony that characterizes this region. Its strong and intense colours result from the creativity and imagination of Susana and Ricardo, the young couple that once dreamed of owning their own ChillOut Resort in Alentejo, in a space that invites to enjoy the good side of life. The orange of the outside walls, for instance, works as an anti-depressive for the grey and dark winter days, promoting joy and well-being. On the inside, ambiances of far, remote landscapes shake the fantasy of our senses, making us dream about wonderful journeys.

1. Breaking the bucolic undulating plain of hills and valleys which spread towards the infinite, ReguenguinhoÂ’s deep blue swimming pool invites for refreshment.
2. Besides the swimming area, there are several porches where the only activity isÂ… doing nothing. But if you feel like exercising, try to turn the pages of one of the many publications available.
3. DonÂ’t worry about lunch. Susana will carefully prepare and serve salads and toasts that are absolutely delicious. Also ask for the home made natural juices.
4. A few kilometres from the Herdade, the Campilhas lake deserves a visit. Take advantage of the available bicycles or segways and ride along.
5. Surf classes are given by SudAventura. Besides surf, this company also organises nice boat trips along the Mira river.
6. For those who appreciate, horses are available for fantastic rides along the wild deserted beaches of the region.
1. Reguenguinho is the third vertex of a triangle formed by Sines and Milfontes. Between these two littoral villages, find beautiful semi-deserted beaches like São Torpes, Morgavel, Porto Covo and Malhão.
2. Birthplace of the great navigator Vasco da Gama, Sines has an historic heritage and a dynamic exhibition program at its Cultural Centre thatÂ’s worth visiting.
3. Located on the north bank of the Mira River, Milfontes is the visiting-card of the region. It is the perfect place for those looking for hot and animated nights.
4. Crossed by the peaceful waters of the Mira River, Odemira has charming points of interest, as the Salvador and Santa Maria churches and one of the most well preserved wind mills in Alentejo.
Where to Eat
5. Short distance from Milfontes, a reference in the regional gastronomy. Go for the grilled fresh fish and seafood.
6. Not really a “tasca” and the owner’s name is not Celso. Weird? No, delicious!
"Almost every piece of decoration in Reguenguinho tell past experiences. That's what makes it so personal and familiar." |
